"Daedalus 3D": A potential future 3D printer I'm excited about! Inspired by Ultimaker, I scaled it up and opted for a DIY approach instead of using a laser cutter. Initially, I considered building a RepRap Mendel, but its time-consuming assembly and design aesthetics led me to create my own custom design. The wooden pieces were precut by a local store, with the rest assembled using a jigsaw and portable screwdriver. Beech multiplex was chosen for material (around 25 EUR for 1 sqm), with dimensions of 2x3246 (sides), 1x4644 (back), 3x3044 (bottom middle and top), 1x944 (front-top), and 1x12x44 (front-bottom). The case was built in just three hours, with an estimated build volume of up to 30L x 20W x 20H cm. Tomorrow, I'll be getting the rods! Electronics include a Gen7 board with opto endstops, Pololu stepper drivers, a USB breakout board, and Nema 17 steppers. This project is still a work in progress!
