Geartech D8, version 3.0
pinshape
Geartech D8 Die, version 3.0: Single STL print of a geared D8 die that meets critical requirements by effectively printing two intertwined parts with independent support structures including interior supports. These interior supports break off when the gears engage for the first time. Designed for use in Nova 3D Clear resin and Elegoo Mars printer, the gears work best when lubricated with some sort of lubricant, such as WD-40 Silicone (plastic-safe), which was used on the prototype. This version 3.0 was designed in Solidworks and Blender, simplifying the design compared to version 2.0, which required R188 bearings and assembly of 17 pieces. While lacking the smoothness and precision of version 2.0, this single print saves time and hassle. Three files are included: a clean version and two STL files with manually optimized supports in ChituBox, one using heavier supports tested on Monoprice Green resin (version "3a"). The main photo shows green and clear dice with pips painted using cheap acrylic paint applied with a toothpick and wiped clean with a baby wipe.
