No one can offer me a suitable replacement part for my old Deutz tractor. The new gear-knob assemblies are always designed with a threat, such as M10. My old system is simply an axle with a hole, allowing the gear-knob to slide over the axle and secure it with a split pin. To properly install the gear-knob, you need to bend the split pin 90 degrees as short as possible from the eye of the pin. Then place the knob on the axle and insert the bent pin into the eye or bolt part that fits into the slot designed for it. On the other side, cut the pin to length and bend it 90 degrees so that it fits into the other slot. This way, when you place your hand under the knob, there are no sharp edges.
