This year we chose a Gears of War themed tree because Gears of War 4 has just been released and my wife and I both love these games. Most of the designs for this tree revolve around clear filament and shining light through existing lights with them. It makes printing and decorating extremely simple. I also heavily used the SVG import feature in both Tinkercad and Fusion 360. It allows creating a simple shape with any image you want cut out of it, then placing some transparent filament behind it.
