The Gears of War-inspired creation shown here was made quickly using a found image online. It's still a work in progress, with room for personalization if desired. To customize your tag, use Google Sketchup to engrave your chosen text and attach it to a chain or necklace. Enjoy the process! Draw a large rectangular surface. 2. Select Tools > 3D Text. The Place 3D Text dialog box appears. 3. Enter the desired text in the text field. 4. Check the 'Extruded' checkbox. 5. Type a negative value in the 'Extruded' field. 6. Click the Place button. A cursor appears with the text. 7. Click on the rectangular surface. The text is placed on the surface as a group. 8. Select the 3D text. 9. Context-click on the 3D text. The context menu for the group is displayed. 10. Select the Explode menu item. The 3D text explodes into its individual geometry. 11. Select the face of each letter and press the Delete key on your keyboard. The face is removed, and the letter appears to be engraved.
