Geared Heart, hand crank upgrades
thingiverse
I really loved this setup, especially the large gear, compared to the original. The axle was a bit too weak for my liking, and getting the small gear not to skip teeth was quite a challenge. I personally didn't mind that much, but I wanted to make sure it wouldn't frustrate my 6-year-old daughter with her little motor skills, so I created a handle that spins freely and reinforced the axle with the gear in place. It turns smoothly now, as you can see from the video: https://www.instagram.com/p/BuXiaIwH_OG/?utm_source=ig_web_button_share_sheet You'll need to download the heart gear parts and base from either the original or the linked remix. I chose not to upload them so you could appreciate their work as well. **UPDATE**: To make it even more enjoyable for my daughter - and hopefully everyone else who prints it - I added a lock ring and modified the base. The lock ring fits snugly on the Beth version of the base after some sanding, but isn't easy to twist. With the new base, it's still a bit of a challenge to get it on initially, but once it clicks into place, it turns smoothly. Just align the openings to seat the heart, then twist the ring to secure it in place. Enjoy!
