Geared Heart, Beth's Hand Cranked Edition
cults3d
A close friend of my wife's, Beth, is battling aggressive cancer. Her husband Marc recently saw the "Geared Heart, Hand Cranked Edition" and asked my wife if I could create an OSU (Oklahoma State University, her alma mater) colors version that was easier for Beth to hold. This version is designed specifically for her, printed in vibrant OSU orange and black. A static video of the prototype can be found here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C4mJBISZZQ8&list=UUv_zm49u-RjnCJVwhUO-ecA, showcasing the "Base.stl" version. There is also a "Base Tall.stl" version that doubles the height of the base for those requiring an extending grip area. The main difference between this version and the previous one is the base has been transformed into a cylindrical shape, while the handle has been designed as a wheel with an attached knob, making it easier to hold and turn for individuals with weakened grips. We are all hoping that Beth makes a swift recovery. This design was created using Sketchup 8 and printed in PLA on a Makerbot Replicator 2 using Makerware 2.3.3.42.
