Geared Extruder using M8 extruder driver
thingiverse
In my custom ABS printer, built from an old K8200 frame, I utilized Geared Extruder 2 and it performed exceptionally well for a while. This printer features a closed housing that allows temperatures to rise up to 45°C for extended periods of time, along with a heat bed that reaches a scorching 110°C. This extreme temperature environment caused the main body of Geared Extruder 2 to warp slowly over time, resulting in the gears no longer fitting together properly. Consequently, I designed and built this new extruder specifically for this printer. To begin, I reused the old M8 extruder driver that came with the K8200 printer. The filament wire is now guided by two 608Z bearings, ensuring it remains on track. Additionally, the extruder driver is secured on both sides to prevent the main body from warping. I also made it possible to adjust the distance between the motor and the large gear in this new design. To enhance the main body's resistance to prolonged heat exposure, I printed this one using gray ABS material. By incorporating a filament guide, it becomes easy to adjust the path of the filament wire as needed. Furthermore, I ensured that the filament wire is visible at all times, making it simpler to replace when necessary. Some key specifications for this extruder include: * The small gear features 10 teeth and the large gear boasts an impressive 43 teeth. * This Extruder can handle filaments of various diameters: 1.75mm, 2.85mm, and 3mm. To assemble this extruder, you will need to gather the following components: 1x Nema17 stepper motor 1X Hot End assembly 1x M8 extruder driver gear 4x 608Z bearings 1x M8 lock nut 2X M8 washers 1X M6x40mm bolt 1X M6 nut 1X M6 lock nut 1X spring (approximately 6x20mm) 1x M4x40mm bolt 2X M4 washers 1x M4 nut 5x M3x20mm bolts 8X M3x10mm bolts 1X M3x6mm bolt (for the small gear) 9x M3 washers 11x M3 nuts If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to ask or comment.
