you can replace tube() with cylinder() and don't forget to add a reverse() function... can be found on openscadwebsite or, here: function reverse(obj) = [for(i=[0:len(obj)-1]) obj[len(obj)-1-i]]; just copy paste, after yave changed tube()s to cylinders(s) ,example profiles are in screenshots., of course over accentuated, but you get the idea. A gear profile is just a fn in power. Its possible to set most any fn and still get a mesh to an original fn. USES: its possible for the novice to finally do that water wheel that scrapes itself clean they always wanted. Otherwise some other funny applications of funny shaped gear profiles are, noise, using rubbery materials, clearances for dirty areas, unidiricetional clutching, etc etc. ::Note I am not going to use this code, but is good for quickies.
