GearBox Clutch & Jewelry Set

GearBox Clutch & Jewelry Set

This distinctive ensemble of jewelry features two earrings and a necklace that converge to form a singular gear, accompanied by a replica snuff box that doubles as a Jewelry Box or Clutch when the gear is worn. Essential hardware components are included. A dual-color effect on some printed pieces was achieved by momentarily pausing my printer to switch filament colors. I have also provided a simplified version for printing in materials like Colorfabb Bronzefill, which require sanding or finishing. This Jewelry Set was specifically designed for the Steampunk Festival held annually in Waltham, Massachusetts, and the Box is the result of a collaborative project involving Nathaniel Hawthorne's personal snuff box on display at the Peabody Essex Museum in Salem, Massachusetts. The design process behind this item has been showcased in "Role Play in Design" Lightning Lectures. To summarize, an artisan character stumbled upon a gear ( I created a virtual gear ) and then repurposed it into a jewelry set to trade at the local market ( I dissected the virtual gear into three pieces and added holes or extruded planes to form a jewelry set ). As the character incarnate, I sold the 3D Printed results as a vendor in a steampunk environment. This contest submission was partially designed with Sketchup software and printed using FolgerTech Hardware.
