GearBox Clutch & Jewelry Set
myminifactory
This exclusive jewelry ensemble consists of two earrings and a necklace that collectively form a singular gear. The reproduction snuff box serves as both a Jewelry Box and a Clutch when wearing the gear. Required hardware is listed. The dual coloration seen in some images was achieved by momentarily pausing my printer to swap out filament colors. I have also included a simplified version for printing with materials such as Colorfabb Bronzefill that require sanding or finishing. I designed this Jewelry Set specifically for a Steampunk Festival held annually in Waltham, Massachusetts, and the Box is a product of a North Shore 3D Printing Club project inspired by Nathaniel Hawthorne's personal snuff box on display in Salem, Massachusetts. This item has been featured in "Role Play in Design" Lightning Lectures to illustrate the design process. To summarize, an artisan character discovered a gear (I created a virtual gear) and then repurposed it into a jewelry set to sell at the local market (I broke the virtual gear into three pieces and added holes or extruded planes). As the character incarnate, I sold the 3D printed results as a vendor in a steampunk environment. This unique jewelry ensemble was partially designed using Sketchup software and 3D printed with FolgerTech hardware.
