Gear wall clock
thingiverse
I wanted to have a steampunk wall clock in the living room that looked exactly like I envisioned, but none of the ones available really fit my style. So, I decided to take matters into my own hands and create one myself. To start, I printed out the design, added some paint as desired, and used glue to attach the gears ("cogwheel" is the large main clock part) in place. For this project, I chose a very basic $2 clockwork mechanism with smooth movements (no annoying tick-tick-tick sound) from Banggood. Since I didn't have any way to hang it on a nail, I added a simple hanger using double-sided tape. The "seconds" gear is attached to the small nub that goes in the center, so it rotates slowly. This makes it perfect for this purpose since it's thin and light. If your clockwork mechanism comes with an actual seconds hand, simply cut it down and glue the gear on. I printed mine out using PETG material and used Revell model colors. As a bonus, there was no need to even apply a base coat. Here's a quick video of my seconds gear in action.
