Gear VR - 40mm Cooling Fan Mount (Consumer edition)

This lightweight alternative to some popular Gear VR fan covers fits neatly into where the white plastic part of the Gear VR meets the black part. You can easily reposition the mount to change where the airflow is, based on your phone's hot spots. Depending on where you need the most cooling power, you may want to trim down the legs so they fit snugly near the middle. With a single 40mm 5v fan, you'll find that overheating becomes a thing of the past - in fact, I've taken it a step further by adding a 10 ohm resistor in series with the fan to slow it down just a bit. If you have any specific requests for customizations, such as dual fans or different fan sizes, feel free to comment below and I'll be happy to make those adjustments. Here are my print settings: **Print Settings:** * Printer Brand: MakerBot * Printer Model: MakerBot Replicator 2 * Resolution: 0.2mm * Infill: 10% * Notes: Print with the legs facing upwards, and use whatever layer thickness you're most comfortable with. **Post-Printing:** The mount is designed to hold a 40mm fan securely in place, with no screw holes - so a dab of super glue or hot glue may be needed to keep everything in place. I used a Micro USB splitter that I picked up on eBay for £1.50, and it worked like a charm. Simply cut off one of the male ends, wire it up to the fan, and then plug the other male end into the Gear VR. Finally, plug your power supply (I recommend using a small USB battery pack that you can stash in your pocket) into the female end of the adapter - and voila! Your fan and Gear VR will be powered off a single USB cable. **How I Designed This:** I used Google SketchUp to create the design for this project, which was actually my second attempt after my first one turned out to be too weak. But now it's perfect.
