Gear Trio version 3
thingiverse
Just a fun fidget toy, 3 gears in a box. I've made 7 versions already but this one feels just right, with the perfect balance of movement and stability. If I come up with an even better design, you'll be the first to know - I'll upload it as a new version. Keep in mind there are plenty of similar gear toys out there, which have inspired me along the way. Make sure each gear turns smoothly before locking them in place by heating and spreading the two pin segments. A slight bend should do the trick, keeping everything secure inside the box. I use a torch lighter to get the job done quickly without damaging the PLA - regular flames can cause it to melt and discolor too fast. As an alternative, you could try dipping a knife in boiling water. You won't find a keychain ring attached to this design, as I think it's better suited for desk play rather than carrying around. However, feel free to add your own ring using Meshmixer if that's what you prefer. Big thanks to geargenerator.com for helping me create this unique fidget toy!
