The gear was tested to ensure a secure STL model through extrusions. After evaluating several options, it was discovered that using 3ds max's Quadify Modifier after base shape extrusion produced the best results. This modifier added vital polygons to the object's front and rear faces, allowing for various shapes to be used in a subsequent shape merge and further face extrusions.
