Gear System

The goal was to achieve simplicity in this gear system design. Two distinct stages are employed: a high-ratio hypoid gear set with module 1, boasting a gear ratio of 1/60; and a second stage consisting of spur gears with module 0.8, featuring teeth counts Z1=9 and Z2=75. When combined, the total gear ratio reaches an impressive 1/500. The first stage operates at an efficiency of 60%, while the second stage boasts a notable 94% efficiency. Consequently, the overall system efficiency settles at a respectable 56%. Backlash measurements indicate that the first stage exhibits a range of 0.05…0.15mm, whereas the second stage displays a consistent backlash of 0.1mm. The cumulative backlash of the entire gear system totals 0.2mm. Notably, this gear system is designed to be assembled within its case and then seamlessly integrated into a main box. The gears themselves are crafted from steel, while the gear box is fabricated from aluminum.
