In the Hitachi ED-A101 projector, the gearbox is stressed during regular use (bad design) and so, the plastic gears are likely to break. I modeled the gears that are most likely to break (two separate projectors had exactly the same gears break) in Fusion360 and printed them on an Ender3 (regular) with ABS and an A8 clone with crappy PLA (photo) and both worked fine. I dont know about the longevity of the gears, as (according to a guy on the internet who took the easy(?) way out and designed an (arduino) circuit to trick the projector into thinking the motor worked) the control scheme intentionally drives the motor into a stall (briefly) to make sure the mirror is actually at the end position. This is a nice idea, but it stresses the gears, which i find to be needlessly fragile (it didnt need to be 10T, it could have been more). file contents: 67 Teeth to 10 Teeth (M0.5 and M1 gearsize respectively) shaft coupling (keyed shaft to special bevel-coupling) (Fusion360 project files are included) Regular replacement gears cost around 8-25$ (at time of writing), which is either because of the low sale volume (injection molding is only cheap at mass), or because it was the only option, much like printer ink (or projector bulbs?).
