A gear puller is an essential tool for removing gears from shafts, available in various designs to suit specific purposes. Some models employ jaws to grip the gear, while others use bolts for direct attachment. Regardless of design, all gear pullers utilize a threaded rod that presses against the gear's shaft to exert pressure until it detaches. One popular choice for tight spaces is the two-jaw puller, which employs two arms or jaws to grasp the gear as the threaded rod engages the mounting shaft. By tightening the puller and applying pressure, even stubborn gears can be removed; however, gradual tightening is recommended for successful gear removal.
