The opposing sides are angled at 14.5 degrees and 20 degrees respectively, making them ideal for sharpening tool bits. Gear tooth angles are named based on the angle of a single tooth's side face, with a full gap between teeth doubling that measurement. As a result, the 14.5-degree angle translates to 29 degrees, mirroring the angle found in acme threads and allowing it to be used for grinding tools that cut these threads. The 20-degree angle, when doubled, becomes 40 degrees.
