Gear Lid - 12 Leaf Aperture Iris Box

<p>Included are two designs to give a steampunk/mechanical themed lid to the <a href="https://www.printables.com/model/315318-12-leaf-aperture-iris-box">12 Leaf Aperture Iris Box</a>, if it wasn't steampunky enough already! You will need to have the base design already, and simply add these decorative doors in place of the original ones.</p><p>This was originally uploaded to MyMiniFactory in 2019, and I have now moved it here as well.</p><h3>Lid Styles</h3><p>'Mech 1' and 'Mech 2' create a gear design with many concentric rings (mounted on to the yellow container) much like the 'hypnotic' design included with the main iris box files. This creates a spiral effect when opening the box.</p><p>'Mech 3' and 'Mech 4' creates the cleaner basic gear design as mounted on to the black container.</p><p>You can also mix and match the two files in each design to give more or less spokes for the gear.</p><p>The multicolour parts are achieved with a material swap at the appropriate height.</p><h3>Print Settings</h3><p>As with the base design, I recommend high resolution print settings e.g. at least 0.2mm layer heights for the doors, and 0.1mm for the decorative tops if printing multicolour.</p><p>Try to avoid 'elephants foot' on the base of the parts, particularly the doors, as this can cause excess friction in the mechanism.</p>
