Made a custom gear knob for my better half using a 9mm pipe as the main structure, extending it through the middle and both ends to increase durability. A 9mm pipe runs right down the center, its length just slightly exceeding the combined dimensions of all component parts. I then threaded an M6 screw through everything and secured it with a nut, utilizing spacers for added stability. Unfortunately, the gearstick attachment on our car's picture broke - my wife's firm grip on it made this inevitable, a hard lesson to learn indeed.
