Gear Heart with Handle
thingiverse
To enhance our Steampunk experience, I created a stand for Emmett's Screwless Heart Gears after my partner wanted to attach the heart on her belt. The design required me to modify certain parts and ensure stability while turning the gears. Here's how to do it: 1. Drill a 1/4" hole through the top center piece completely. I'll update the STL file for an extended shaft in the future. 2. Insert a 1/4" x 1-3/4" cotterless hitch pin into the top and center pieces, marking where the top of the center piece aligns with the hitch pin. 3. Glue a washer onto the hitch pin at your marked spot to prevent upward travel when rotating the heart. 4. Apply glue inside the center piece and reinsert the hitch pin along with the top center piece. 5. Let the glue dry, and voila! You can now twist the heart gears effortlessly by holding the bottom of the heart and using the hitch pin as a key. In the future, I might design and print a solid replacement for the metal hitch pin to provide additional strength.
