Gear Gap Filler and Softener

Gear Gap Filler and Softener

Using Greg's extruder from PrusaMendel's felt branch, I noticed that the gears meshed and rotated but left slight gaps causing wiggle room. To resolve this, I employed some leftover felt, which proved highly effective while also eliminating any noises produced by clicking. However, after minimal usage, the felt slipped off, necessitating further refinement possibly by adding extra tabs for stability. Despite initial success, I don't recommend its use due to felt stretching/compressing and malfunctioning. An alternative material may be required. For assembly, cut the felt strip or laser-cut it (though felt compatibility with laser cutters is uncertain), wrap it around the small gear on the extruder, and glue the tabs to the side of the gear. If you don't want to download files, simply use a felt strip with tabs at both ends, doubling the small gear's circumference.
