After a decade of constant operation my garage door opener's belt gear finally gave up, stripping away all its teeth due to wear and tear.\r\nThe original gear was made of nylon but proved surprisingly fragile with deep grooves running between each tooth. I opted for a replacement gear printed from solid polycarbonate without these grooves, making it virtually indestructible.\r\nThe brass insert from the old gear is still being reused.
