Gear Cube

A collection of conical gears interlocking to a central hub part forms a rotatable cube; my sister brought home this 3D-printed wonder from MIT. Attempting to model it, the design relies heavily on in-context references. I wouldn't recommend 3D printing without testing its functionality. While attempting to optimize gear geometry, I was disappointed with the limitations of my knowledge about gear teeth. If someone can devise a creative solution for perfect gears, I'd be eager to learn.
