Gear cover for Harbor Freight 7x10 mini lathe
thingiverse
The carriage on the Harbor Freight mini lathe has an open back, permitting metal shavings to seep into the gears. A straightforward solution is to install a simple cover that will seal up the back and maintain its cleanliness. Since there are no pre-drilled mounting holes in the part, you will need to drill your own. I opted for M3 flat head screws on my lathe, but feel free to use any suitable fasteners. To accommodate this new cover, the lead screw cover must be taken off first, providing the necessary clearance.
