This is a gear bucket system for 8" round hatches found on Hobie kayaks and boats. There are various tray configurations and sizes to organize your tackle / gear / accessories. The bucket will print on a 25cm x 20cm build plate (Prusa i3). --- STEP 1 ====== CHOOSE A BUCKET TYPE ---------------- **OPTION 1: Solid wall** The solid wall bucket is similar to the stock bucket. OR **OPTION 2: Perforated wall** The perforated wall bucket has holes to reduce material and weight. --- STEP 2 ====== CHOOSE A BUCKET PRINT METHOD ---------------------------------- **OPTION 1: Print as two separate pieces** Print the two parts in opposite orientation to eliminate print supports. * Bucket_solid_top.stl + Bucket_solid_bottom.stl or * Bucket_lite_top.stl + Bucket_lite_bottom.stl **OPTION 2: Print as one single piece** Print the bucket in one single piece, requiring supports. * Bucket_solid_one-piece.stl or * Bucket_lite_one-piece.stl --- STEP 3 ====== ASSEMBLE BUCKET ------------------------- If you printed the bucket in two separate pieces, assemble them now. The bottom will fit snugly into the top part. Use glue to bond the parts together; the type of glue depends on the material used. If you printed the bucket as one single piece, simply remove supports and you're done. --- STEP 4 ====== PRINT TRAYS ------------------- Choose and print the trays you want to use. There are several different configurations at various sizes. You can stack three short trays, two half-trays or one tall tray. --- Notes: ------- * I use PETG; it has decent heat tolerance and is relatively strong. Nylon/ABS or carbon fiber reinforced filament would be better options if they can be printed. * Print the bucket at 100% infill. You want it to be as strong as possible. The lip of the bucket is likely to be the weakest point, so use a bit more material here for added strength. * There is ample surface area to bond the bucket bottom to the top; it's a snug fit. If you use the correct glue, that bond will be strong. * If you want to print a shorter bucket, cut the top off the Bucket top part in your slicer (or cancel the print at the desired height). You can similarly shorten trays in your slicer if needed.
