Gear bearing filament roller for CraftBot
thingiverse
I was never fully satisfied with CraftBot's initial thin filament holder, so I created a simple yet elegant gear bearing for smoother rotation. Most of the filament rolls have a 56mm hole diameter and 75/90mm width, so they were my target. I began by modifying Emmett's pre-assembled Gear Bearing design using these settings: tol = 0.2, number_of_teeth_on_planets = 5, number_of_planets = 5, w = 16.5, nTwist = 1, P = 45, T = 10, D = 56, and approximate_number_of_teeth_on_sun = 9. Unfortunately, there was no option to change the center hexagon to a circle in the customizer, so I added a hallow cylinder in the middle with a 16.4mm diameter to convert it to a circle. I also added a 2.5mm wide ring on one side with a 60mm diameter. This ring makes a 2mm extension on the periphery of the gear bearing and serves as a support on both sides of the filament roll. CraftBot's original filament holder shaft was increased to 16mm. Finally, a 5mm wide O-ring was added as a stopper behind the filament roll to prevent friction with the CraftBot's side wall. Slicer settings: (CraftWare 1.13 beta #25088) Basic EW/LH: 0.4mm / 0.2mm (1st LH 0.3mm), Perimeter W/S: 90% / 60%, Infill Density/Speed: 30% / 100%. Advanced DS: 50mm/s, TS: 70mm/s, WS: 20mm/s, R/PS: 80mm/s, Drawing order: [loops -> perims] -> [fills]. Foundation 1st LH: 0.3mm, Extr. adj.: 65%, Speed: 20mm/s. Temperature HT: 215C, BT: 60C.
