Gear and motor boxes are fully customizable in terms of transmission ratio and mounting options. The project showcases a demonstration model based on the Stephenson locomotive, available online at https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:564002. A tiny 12V motor with 200rpm is used; it can also be obtained in different voltage and rpm configurations. The presented gear reduces the motor's rpm by a factor of 1:2, effectively doubling its speed. Choosing the 12V version of this motor allows the locomotive to run on standard LGB rails using current slider contacts. Currently, it operates with a 9V accumulator. This project utilizes a specific motor available at https://www.amazon.de/dp/B071PFDBD7?_encoding=UTF8&coliid=I351Z49K02X4M3&colid=1L98TO5ZF8GFI&th=1. Version 2 of the project involves modifying the motor box to encapsulate the gear, resulting in a more integrated design. The last two images display Version 2 mounted and its components. A new release, Version 3.1, has been added; details can be found below. For matching current pickups, springs, and spring boxes, visit https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2783406.
