I fell instantly in love with Benito Sanduchi's Geaornament. I was less enthusiastic about trying to find a close match to a 30mm LED tea light to stuff into its rear-end. That, and I wanted a more finished appearance. Before I designed anything, I needed a light to work around. I got these from Amazon - I was making Christmas gifts of these, so I needed a bunch. They have an easily replaceable battery (so that's nice) and are easily disassembled - more on this later. I set out to make a cap that would allow the ornament to be hung or stood up on its own, so I put in a print-in-place handle that pivots up for hanging, and down for standing. I also wanted a cap that allowed very easy access to the switch and battery compartment, so it's open on the bottom. Easy peasy. While you're printing the cap take the opportunity to disassemble a tea light - pretty much you only need a tiny something like a jeweler's screwdriver to get in the seam on the bottom and pop the whole upper part loose - there are no screws of any kind. The LED, battery, switch, and useful stuff are attached to the base. Remove the rubber "flame" tip from the upper part and jam it tightly down onto the LED (I find it diffuses a tiny bit more, and if using a transparent filament it looks nicer on the inside). Snip or cut the three little bumps on the bottom of the light flush with the surface. Lastly, you'll want to trim off the corners of the switch housing closest to the outer edge as they are a little too close to the cap when assembled to allow the ornament to go into place. Once printed, the tea light base ought to be a nice snug-ish fit in the cap, and the light will sit flush against the bottom ring of the cap. Test fit your ornament. If everything seems good to go, fasten the light into the cap with a few drops of CA glue. You can do the same with the ornament, but I opted to dip the open ring of the ornament in 5-minute epoxy before inserting into the cap for greater working time and greater surface-to-surface adhesion.
