In my revised design, I've decreased the weight by incorporating a series of holes in the upper part's skin. The stress and strain are still evenly distributed throughout the component due to the interconnected web of material remaining between the holes. Circles are efficient shapes for distributing forces. This new model has a 59% lower weight-to-volume ratio compared to the original General Electric part.
