Ford granted licenses for the production of the Model A and AA to numerous countries, including notably the Soviet Union. Over 985,000 GAZ AAs were manufactured in USSR from 1932 to 1950. The GAZ version had a cargo capacity of 1,500 kg or 3,300 lbs. A model with a more powerful 50 HP engine and wartime simplifications is often referred to as the GAZ–MM, named after its robust engine.
