Gauze 4x4 dispenser
thingiverse
I use 4x4 gauze sponges, specifically the 12 ply gauze compress type, for various 3D printing tasks. When combined with an eyedropper filled with 91% isopropyl alcohol, they remove hairspray from the build plate flawlessly. To release prints stuck to the build plate, I apply a couple of droppers-full of ABS/Acetone slurry, spreading it around with a saturated 4x4 gauze sponge and then use a sharpened 1-1/2" putty knife to pry the print loose. In fact, this method allowed me to remove a divot of borosilicate glass from my print bed. This dispenser is designed for the 200-count package available on Amazon for under $10. The back features dimples that allow you to secure it with hot glue and/or magnets – I wanted to attach mine to the side of my refrigerator. Be cautious, as this design takes almost fourteen hours to print at 0.35 mm layers using my Rostock.
