Gauss Gun
thingiverse
This ball-launching device employs magnetism and momentum conservation, accelerating ball bearings along rails before a final ball is ejected with enhanced velocity. Find the video and other work on my blog at http://msraynsford.blogspot.com/2012/02/gauss-gun.html. To assemble, connect two rails using spacers, then place two disks near magnet indents. Insert magnets into the indents and slide disks down to secure them. Use three 12mm magnets and 10mm ball bearings (catapult shot). No glue is necessary.
