Gatorade Bottle Bottom Adapter: Transcending Geometry from Dodecahedron to Icosahedron Big model showcasing the duality between a dodecahedron and an icosahedron, designed for educational purposes. Adapter to hang a bottle upside down, encouraging creativity and minimizing plastic waste. This project will be donated to the local Science Center upon completion. Using a dodecahedron core and 12 Gatorade bottles (or similar 20-oz bottles with a 38 mm opening diameter), we can create a spiky dodecahedron structure that invites further tinkering due to its 20 triangular shapes. Connecting the center points of all bottle bottoms using screws is feasible, but not recommended for children. After brainstorming, I designed an adapter that snaps onto the bottles, highlighting their centers and facilitating connections between them. Rubber bands, yarn, or thin ropes can be used to link all pegs/pins, resulting in a large icosahedron surrounding a small dodecahedron. A single adapter can also be used to hang the spiky dodecahedron from the ceiling if desired. Calculating Yarn Requirements: It takes approximately 1 foot of yarn to connect two pegs. To determine how many feet are needed to triangulate the entire structure, consider the number of connections required. About the Files: Versions A and B are interchangeable, with the only difference being in the gaps between elements. See Also: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3806798
