A gateleg table features an oval top, comprised of three sections with two foldable flaps that can be positioned horizontally or lowered near the legs. The table structure includes legs, rails, stretchers and a rotatable gate, which maintains the leaves in a horizontal position. Double-gateleg tables exist too, as they have two gates on each side holding the leaves. Officially, there are 17 parts outlined in an assembly drawing.
