Gateleg Table 1:12 Scale
thingiverse
This is a model of a Gateleg Table at 1:12 scale. It does function as a gate leg, you can raise either side and use the leg to hold it up. All pieces are contained in one file and will fit on many printer beds. The hinges are printed in place. The table top pieces are separated in the print to prevent them from sticking and to aid use of supports. I use a long pin as the hinge pin, it is more effective than trying to print the hinge with a plastic pin. The pin should just slide into the hinges. For the gate leg hinges, the hole is very small. I recommend using a regular pin that has been heated to melt through the plastic. It should slide down the holes pretty easily if heated. Install the gate legs onto the frame of the table first, using sewing pins for the hinge. Nip off the excess pin. Next install the longer pins on the table top to form a single unit. Lastly, glue the frame to the tabletop, being careful not to glue the gate legs to either the top or the gate legs. The drawer slides into one end of the table. Print with supports. Based on plan from Woodsmith Issue 20, however significantly modified to meet 3D printer capabilities.
