Gatehunter RS5 Flip Stick Canopy
thingiverse
I have to admit, the hype is real: Flip sticks work much better than any fin. Saved me a couple of times during last weekend's race. The frame that fits this canopy is the Gatehunter RS5. All .dxf files are available. Thanks to a lot jadi_rc and his remix of the SLS3 Canopy for the inspiration! Main advantages: - Much higher than a fin so it works even in taller grass - The quad ALWAYS lands in the exact same position with both rear props up an nice clearance to the ground Please read: - You need a 5mm diameter polyamide (nylon) stick or similar - Don't use a carbon stick or anything that doesn't flex in a crash! - The fitting is really tight on purpose. Use a small hammer to get the stick in. Setup and recommendations: =========================== 2019 Best Value Build --------------------------------- - FC+ESC: Mamba F4 This is just the best cheap stack out there! I have a bunch of them and never encountered any issues. - Motors: Emax Eco 2207 I use the version 1900kv on 6S with a throttle limit between 70-90% depending on the track. These motors are hands down the best value for money available at the moment. - VTX: This one from HGLR is a super cheap alternative to the TBS unify nano if you are on a budget - FPV Cam: The Micro Swift 2 is a classic. Can't go wrong with that one. - RX: Frsky R-XSR - Antenna: Foxeer Lollipop 2019 High End Build: ---------------------------------- - FC+ESC: I'm personally not using anything fancy in terms of ESCs. My favourite is still the Holybro Kakute F4 because it has been super reliable and performs great. Since the Mamaba F4 offered such a great value for money I'm super excited about the new Diatone Mama F7 but couldn't test it yet. What I wouldn't recommend is the Hobbywing Stack. It performs fine but I really didn't like the layout and that you have to use a shitty connector with stiff wires for hooking up the cam and VTX instead of direct soldering. - Motors: IFlight Xing 2206 These motors are super beautiful! I use the 2206 instead of the more common 2207 to shave off some weight (28 vs 31g). The 1850kV on 6S have more than enough power and I usually have a throttle limit. - VTX: TBS Nano32 to save a few grams - FPV Cameras: I personally prefer the new big sensor CMOS cameras with their nice almost HD looking FPV feed like the Ratel, the Micro Eagle and especially the Phoenix Oscar. I tried all of them and they are all really good in my opinion. I guess it finally just comes down to personal preferences around the field of view etc. Check out some YT videos if you aren't sure. - RX: Crossfire Nano RX - Antenna: Foxeer Lollipop
