Gate Retaining Catch
thingiverse
This is a basic model of a gate retaining catch with a 6mm gap for the latch. I created it about 3 years ago when the 2 metal replacements I had bought broke within a few months of use. Despite numerous people saying that PLA won't last when used outside, I printed this in black PLA to see how long it would last in the UK weather. It had lasted really well for 3 years in the British weather until I pulled the gate open really hard last week, not realising that the latch had dropped down! If I hadn't pulled the gate open so hard this probably would have lasted several more years as it showed no signs of wearing until then. My new print is grey PLA and I'm hoping it will last just as well. Even though it's one of my earliest designs, and was quickly knocked up in F360, it has lasted so well I thought it might be useful for someone else as well. The attached gcode is for my CR-10. It uses: printed on its side for max' strength (view the attached gcode in ideamaker) ; a Raft (because it's on its side!) ; 3 walls ; Zig-Zag infill of 50% ; top/bottom thickness 1.6mm ; bed temp 60 ; hot end temp 200 ; I can't pull it apart by hand with these settings. EDIT: I've uploaded a revised version (v3) with counter-sunk holes to better fit some screws.
