School assignment. “Gate of Hope” is a steel sculpture crafted by Alexander Liberman and unveiled in 1972. It stands proudly on Holmes Hall lawn, directly in front of the Engineering Building at University of Hawaii at Manoa. The vibrant red cadmium hue serves as the primary color accents for Holmes Hall and also represents the signature style of Liberman, symbolizing life and vibrancy to the entire structure. This sculpture features a connected shape that is essentially a cylinder, offering a dramatically changing view from various viewpoints. Several of his highly recognizable sculptures take inspiration from steel beams, pipes, drums, and similar elements. Process Step 1: Capture an image of the site using a phone camera.
