I designed this Gate Latch for maximum strength and ease of printing, to be utilized with large and/or heavy gates featuring a D or Latch locking system. Gate Hook: I printed the hook using 5 perimeters at 0.4mm nozzle thickness to achieve 2mm wall thickness, along with 4 top and bottom layers at 0.22mm to create 1mm thick top and bottom surfaces, all while incorporating 15% infill density. Gate Bracket: I printed the bracket with 7 perimeters at 0.4mm nozzle thickness to obtain 2.8mm wall thickness, coupled with 6 top and bottom layers at 0.22mm for a total of 1.44mm thick top and bottom surfaces, utilizing an infill of 20% to provide the necessary strength against impacts from closing gates. Gate Pin: I printed the gate pin with maximum perimeter walls for solid construction, opting instead for 100% infill density due to its enhanced structural integrity. All parts were printed at high temperatures to maximize layer adhesion. Assembling: The optimal assembly method involves assembling on a flat surface by placing the head of the pin onto the work surface and covering the protruding end with baking paper or greaseproof paper. Next, use an iron to gently press down on the top of the pin, softening and melting it to form a rivet-like bond. Alternatively, a bolt can be employed for secure fastening. Happy Printing!
