GATE - Japanese Toro Accent Lantern

The GATE lantern is a 3D-printed accent light, inspired in its construction by the traditional Japanese tōrō lantern. Composed of five sections representing the four elements (earth, water, fire, and air) and spirit, the lantern can be assembled right off the printer with no adhesive required other than for attaching the rice paper shade. When fully assembled it stands at 12.6" (320mm) tall and 6.6" (167.6mm) wide and deep. GATE works as a fantastic accent light on a shelf or end table. Or use it as a bedside table lamp with a dimmable LED bulb. GATE can be printed on an FDM 3D printer (Prusa, Lulzbot, etc), and has tons of color customizability (especially if you use a color LED lightbulb)! The lantern in the photos was printed with black and white PLA, but other rigid materials such as ABS and t-glase will work as well. Notes are included for additional build instructions and tips, as well as lightbulb fixture sizing.
