Gatchaman Pheonix Repaired for slicing UPDATE Version 4
thingiverse
UPDATE: March 20 fixed fins and foil on the wing. Made several key modifications to this model by X Trone, transforming it into a more accurate representation of its 1970s animated counterpart. This latest update was completed and finalized with no further changes planned. The two pontoons at the end of the wings were updated, as well as the rockets located in the rear of the ship, which were increased in size. A dome-shaped top section was added to the midsection of the ship, mirroring the original design from the animated series. The upper landing bay was also rounded off, accurately replicating its retro-futuristic appearance. Furthermore, an additional airfoil was integrated into the engine's two lower pods, which were rounded off for a more aerodynamic look. The Thruster compartment walls, previously too thin, were reinforced to ensure stability and structural integrity. Additionally, a landing bay door was installed, completing the ship's design overhaul. The ship's bottom view initially presented an asymmetrical appearance, prompting a creative solution: splitting the model in half, flipping it, and combining the two halves to achieve perfect symmetry. This modification was successfully executed on my slicer, showcasing the updated design from multiple angles. Even when referencing the original 3D print of the ship, it became apparent that the Thruster compartment may not have printed fully due to its thin walls, which could potentially be a limitation of printing at a nozzle diameter exceeding .02mm. UPDATE FINAL: A subsequent revision was made, bolstering the three fins and two wing fins to achieve an exact likeness to the animated model. In addition, the vents were squared off to match their retro-futuristic design from the original series. This concludes all updates to the ship's design; it is now complete and ready for enjoyment.
