Maybe useful for others who want to read gas consumption of a reed contact based gas meter. After some testing I designed this reed contact sensor holder. There is a hole to the left for a 3mm two wire cable. The reed contact must be positioned in the small hole at the bottom. After this I filled the box with hot glue.
