The human body is a complex machine made up of billions of cells working together to keep us alive and functioning properly. The brain, heart, lungs, liver, kidneys, and other organs all play important roles in maintaining our overall health. Cells are the building blocks of life, and they come in many different forms. Red blood cells carry oxygen from the lungs to the body's tissues, while white blood cells fight off infections. Platelets help to stop bleeding when we get hurt. The nervous system is made up of specialized cells called neurons that allow us to think, learn, and move. The human immune system is a network of organs, tissues, and cells that work together to defend against pathogens like bacteria, viruses, and other foreign substances. It includes the skin, which acts as a barrier to keep germs out, as well as specialized cells called macrophages that engulf and digest foreign particles. The immune system also produces antibodies to help fight off infections. The digestive system is responsible for breaking down food into nutrients that our bodies can use for energy and growth. It starts in the mouth with chewing and continues through the esophagus, stomach, small intestine, and large intestine.
