Gaslands Race Gate

Gaslands Race Gate

thingiverse

Some of the scenarios in Gaslands demand that vehicles navigate through gates in a specific sequence, including start and finish lines. After experimenting with various designs, I found myself dissatisfied with all of them. It wasn't until I stumbled upon a design on Thingiverse for Small Checkpoint Gate by MoMaHo that things took a turn for the better. This simple yet effective design caught my eye because it's not overly stylized, allowing me to customize it as I see fit, and can easily be expanded or contracted to accommodate gates of varying widths. The ideal solution! I chose to print four sets of gate parts on the Cetus-3D at 0.2mm layer height with 20% infill for added strength and reduced weight. This should suffice for a 4' x 4' racing area. The clearance on these gates ranges from 14cm to 22cm, with an upper limit of 9cm. While large war rigs might not fit beneath them, that's hardly a concern in Gaslands racing, is it? Next up, I needed a way to indicate gate numbers and directions. To achieve this, I modified Ork Armour Plates from Tinkercad by simonjhenry, scaled them up, and attached them to the gates. The plan is to weather and rust them before adding graffiti-like markings with relevant information.
