Gas Seal for 2in Potato Cannon
thingiverse
This gas seal is designed to launch projectiles out of a potato launcher, or spud gun, that has a two-inch diameter barrel. Print with one hundred percent infill for a better chance of reuse after a launch. After printing it, put some tape around the outside tabs. The gas seal is slightly smaller than the diameter of a two-inch barrel, but when you put tape around the tabs, it becomes larger than the barrel and the tabs will flex so that it makes a really good seal against the barrel. I used two layers of scotch tape, and it works great. Ideal use for this gas seal is when shooting something that doesn't make a very good gas seal on its own, such as a golf ball or a small lime. Some good projectiles to print and use with this gas seal are my lollipop stabilizer fins with a lollipop glued in: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3667154, and this crazy jumbo pellet: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3667173. An Instructable on how to make a spud gun is coming soon! I'll put the link here as soon as I finish it. UPDATE: I added a chamfer to the rim of the gas seal, and it slides in a lot easier while still creating a good seal. The new version is called Gasss Seal.
