Gas Range Knob
thingiverse
I own an Ikea gas range. Most people know that many low-to-mid-range appliances on the market today come from just a few companies, regardless of the brand name. For example, Whirlpool makes not only Whirlpool but also Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, and Sears, as well as Ikea, along with several other brands. One of the knobs on my range broke off. It was only a matter of time before this happened because these knobs are poorly designed. Additionally, the low-quality silver finish discolored quickly with ordinary cooking (I've included a photo). Since I needed to work on the stove anyway to replace the defective cooling fan, I decided to give everything a fresh new look and replace all of the knobs. No way! $24 per knob is just too expensive. I have five knobs that need replacement, and I wasn't happy with their performance in the first place. So, I designed these instead. I've included designs for both the large and small knobs in two different colors. One design can be printed in a single color, while the other is made to show contrasting pointers when printed in layers. There's no trick to printing these knobs (especially the 1-color version). I chose PETG because it's slightly stronger and more heat-resistant than PLA. But let's face it: if your knobs are reaching the melting point of PLA, you probably have bigger issues at hand.
