Gas Cap - Craftsman 4.5HP Lawnmower

The other day I was mowing the lawn and a horrendous sound came from with the bowels of the beast. Looked down and there was the gas cap cut and bashed apart. There was little time to go to the store and I couldn't leave the yard half way done with fathers day coming up. No father wants to cut grass on fathers day, I wanted to spend it with my kids. So needless to say I finished mowing the lawn with no gas cap. Dirt and grass clippings flying dangerosuly close to the opening of tank. Then I started wondering how long PLA would last as a cap. From what I have found they are not very compatible but I took the plunge and modeled up a gas cap and printed it. Little tight but works great Description: Threads a about 2.5mm deep and are on a 5.8 pitch. The pitch works but I dont think I compensated enough for the gas tank. Its a little tight but at least it wont fall off again. 6/12 - I am working on a revision that will give the same pitch but I made the thread profile more favorable for printing. The first one i was trying to match it. Instructions I printed this a .300 mm layers and infill of 20%. Pretty strong still. Would recommend printing in nylon, I just did not have any set up on the printer at the time. Looking at the paths in kisslicer it looks like the smaller the layers the less likely there will be overhang and drooping of the extrusion. Printed on Prusa i3
