Gas Canister Stand Remix

thingiverse

I found CuriousFox's Gas Canister Stand https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4728775 to be the only one I could find on Thingiverse that supports the 65mm butane gas canisters which are thinner and taller. My camp stove has the adapter ring for these cans and they are generally found cheaper than the isobutane. Printing this saved me a mighty $6.99 to buy a gas can stabilizing tripod and I justify the cost of my 3d printers to my wife by making rather than buying. :) After printing the original I found the tolerances would not fit together, which is something mentioned in post-printing section of the original project. I broke one of the legs trying to get it assembled and figured sizing adjustment was in order. I didn't want to simply scale down the part as this could cause other issues with fit and function. Instead, I took the center part that the three stabilizing legs attach to and cut down the bottom side of it to thin it out by about 0.25mm. This tiny reduction in thickness allows the legs I printed (I did 4 layers top/bottom/outer and 50% infill to increase rigidity and strength in Hatchbox PLA blaze orange for high visibility) to snugly lock in place while allowing me to actually assemble it without snapping a leg. You'll need to print 1x of the center post and 3x legs for the assembly. Thank you to CuriousFox for designing a camp stove stand that actually fits all three canister sizes and for helping justify future printer purchases!
